Moodle is the online platform that the HfG uses to host seminars and workshops’ materials online. The first time you access it, and after you have logged in, you will see a list of all available courses for that semester at the HfG (for a comprehensive list, please have a look at the [Vorlesungsverzeichnis](https://www.hfg-karlsruhe.de/vorlesungsverzeichnis/) section of the [HfG website](https://www.hfg-karlsruhe.de/)).

Once you have scrolled through them and found the ones you want to attend, click their individual titles in order to access the course’s site and enrol in their Moodle pages. Please note: Not all courses give you the option to enrol in their Moodle pages. There are three options:
1. Free enrolment: you can self-enrol by clicking the button (see picture below, Fig. 6.2) 2. Signed enrolment: you need a password for enrolment, provided by the course’s teacher. Please send them an email. 3. Enrolment option is not available: Please send the course teachers an email, it is possible that they will not be using Moodle at all.

After enrolling in several courses, when you access Moodle, you will be presented with the Dashboard, an overview of all of them. Please have a look at your Settings and personalise them to your liking. Two very important sections in Moodle are the Alerts and Messages (see picture below, Fig. 6.3). Announcements from lecturers, alerts for due dates and other important messages will appear there. In your Notification Settings, you can choose to receive email alerts, HfG highly recommends you to activate them.

Each course has a dedicated site where you will find course materials, announcements, forums and, importantly, meeting links. Below (Fig. 6.4) is an example.

Moodle is a complex, modular learning platform, please have a look at the [official documentation](https://docs.moodle.org/310/en/Main_page) for any specific or advanced features.
