Madek

The ORC is implementing a digital archive and platform for the HfG on which students, teachers and staff can archive, research and share their projects. The database software for this digital platform is called Madek.

Madek follows a bottom-up approach. Users have full control over the material they upload, they can share it in different contexts, modify it, delete it; and they can autonomously form groups with other users.

If users upload material to Madek, they are obliged to enter basic metadata. While basic metadata is mandatory, more detailed metadata can be entered to specify the material. An uploaded file equipped with metadata is called media entry.

In addition to media entries, users can also create sets. Sets are used to organize media entries and group them together. A set also needs metadata and can contain both, media entries and/or sets.

At the moment, we are in a preliminary phase, and access to Madek is restricted. It is only used for specific tasks. If you intend to use Madek, please contact us:

The current version of Madek can be accessed here:

Initially, the software was developed at the Zurich University of the Arts, ZHdK. HfG is now actively involved in the development and collaborates with ZHdK.
